Moors Valley Country Park

(Approx 1 mile walk or cycle / 3 miles drive).

A wealth of activities can be experienced at nearby Moors Valley, part of Ringwood Forest and in easy walking distance from Cottage Farm. Bicycles of all types for hire, great off-road cycling, lovely walks through woodland trails and tree top routes, forest adventure play for a range of ages. Go-Ape zip wire through the forest and Go-Ape Segway rides, as well as, Moors Valley Steam Railway – enjoy a ride on the longest narrow gauge railway in the south. See: www.moors-valley.co.uk

The New Forest National Park (Approx 6 miles drive to National Park boundary). Covering approx..120sq.miles. We feel privileged to be on the border of The New Forest, our visitors can experience both the north and south of the forest, exploring ancient woodland, walking, cycling or horse riding on miles off road tracks, country lanes and roads shared with ponies, cattle, donkeys and pigs. Forest Inns offer delicious menus and local beers, interesting village shops and farmers markets produce a range of items that cannot be purchased elsewhere. Experience something different, share your time and space with a variety of wildlife. Visit the New Forest Centre at Lyndhurst. Discover where the forest meets the sea. The Southern Coastal Beaches – Golden sands, candy floss and deck chairs are just 10 to 15 miles away at Bournemouth, Boscombe and Southborne. The southern coast east gives way to nature and the beautiful headland of Hengistbury Head (Approx.14 miles). Walk over the top or along the beach or take the land train to Mudeford Sand on the entrance to Christchurch Harbour where you will find trails to explore, a great beach restaurant and passenger ferry to Mudeford Quay famous for old smuggling tales, line- crabbing, sea trips, fishing, kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding. The Jurassic Coast – Dinosaurs & Fossils (Approx.28 miles to Lulworth Cove)

Along the Dorset coast, from the Old Harry Rocks heading west, the coast takes a plunge back in time. Take the ferry from Sandbanks to Studland and follow the old road along the coast to Swanage or round to Corfe Castle and on to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. You will be rewarded with spectacular coastal scenery and the fascinating history on view in exhibitions at Lulworth Cove and Kimmeridge. A steep walk over the cliff from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door is well worth the effort but remember to take bottled water with you, there are no facilities at Durdle Door.  Visit: www.jurassiccoast.org/fossilhunting
